Item Filters
You can create item filters on your online store to simplify the shopping experience for your customers. The item filters help narrow down the number of items thereby assisting your customers in finding the desired item.
Add
Here’s how you can add a new Item filter:
- Go to Item Filters under Storefront.
- Select Item Filters and click + New present in the top right corner. By default, you’ll have category as one of the filters.
- Fill out all the necessary fields.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Filter Name | Enter the name of the item filter. |
Description | The description entered is only for your reference and will not be displayed to customers anywhere on your store. |
Filter Type | Attributes:Choose this based on specific item attributes such as size, material, or any custom attribute defined in your catalog. Specifications: Use this to enable filtering based on detailed item specifications like weight, dimensions, technical features, or other measurable criteria. Tags: Select tags you wish to show as Price: You can add one or more ranges of amounts, each of which will be a price filter. Enable Custom Price Range to allow your customers to enter any price range of their choice. Brand: Select this to narrow down items by the brand or manufacturer. Colour: This allows to filter products based on color options available in your catalog |
Price Ranges | You’ll see the price ranges field once you choose price as your filter type. This will change based on the type of filter you select. You can add multiple ranges of amounts, each of which will be a price filter. |
Custom Price Range | Mark the checkbox to allow your customers to enter a custom price range. |
Sort Filters | Select your preference in sorting item filters. |
Number Of Visible Filters | Choose the number of visible filters from the dropdown. |
Show Item Count With Option | The item count will be displayed next to the filter. |
Collapse By default | Enable this to collapse the filters by default. |
Show in Store | Mark this checkbox if you want the filter to be displayed on your online store. |
- Click Save.
Edit Item Filter
You can edit the item filters and make changes to certain fields. To do so:
- Go to Storefront.
- Select Item Filters and hover over the filter that you wish to edit.
- Click Edit to make the necessary changes. Once done, click Save.
Delete Item Filter
You can delete a item filter if you no longer wish to use it. Here’s how:
- Go to Storefront.
- Select Item Filters and hover over the filter that you wish to delete.
- Click Delete. Select delete in the pop-up that follows.
The item filter will be deleted permanently.
Assign Filters
Once you create multiple item filters, you can assign them to specific categories under category settings.
Scenario: Patricia sells bags, shoes, and jackets. She creates the following item filters- size, colour, and price. However, she only sells one size in bags, which means bags cannot be filtered by size like other items on her online store. In this case, she can disable the size filter for the bags category and have filters relevant to the specific category.
Here’s how you can assign category specific item filters:
- Go to Storefrony from the left sidebar.
- Click Item Filters and navigate to the Assign Filters tab.
- Select a category from the Choose Category dropdown. Next, disable the filters that are not applicable to the selected category.
The disabled filters will not be shown on your online store for the particular category. You can change this anytime.
Change Order
You can rearrange the order of item filters. Here’s how:
- Go to Storefront on the left sidebar.
- Click Item Filters.
- Click Change Order. in the top right corner.
- Rearrange the filters and click Save.
The item filters will be displayed in the newly saved order.
