# How do I edit an existing tax rate?

To edit an existing tax rate:

*   Go to **Settings** and select **Taxes** under _Taxes & Compliance_.
*   Hover over the tax rate you want to edit and click the **dropdown** icon at the end of the row.
*   Select **Edit**.
*   Update the fields you want to change, such as **Tax Name**, **Rate (%)**, or **Tax Type**.
*   Click **Save**.
*   If this tax has already been applied in some transactions, you will be asked to confirm whether to update the new tax rate in those transactions as well.
