Standalone Terminal
The Zoho Payments POS terminal handles the entire payment flow independently, from initiating the transaction to confirming the final status. This makes it ideal for businesses that operate with standalone terminals without a separate billing system.
This integration supports two payment methods: Card as Sale (tap, swipe, or insert) and UPI QR (customer scans a QR code displayed on the terminal).
End-to-End Payment Flow
When a customer is ready to pay at a physical store, the POS terminal manages the entire transaction from start to finish:
- The customer is ready to pay at the checkout counter.
- The cashier selects the payment method on the POS terminal (card or UPI).
- For card payments, the customer taps, swipes, or inserts their card. For UPI payments, the terminal displays a QR code for the customer to scan.
- The terminal forwards the payment request to the acquiring bank or UPI network for processing.
- Zoho Payments records the transaction details and updates the payment status.
- Once the payment is confirmed, the POS terminal displays the result to the customer and prints a receipt.
For details on what the terminal displays, how the customer pays, and what appears on the receipt, refer to the What Happens at the Terminal section.
